A low city wall appears before you. You see along the road some carts being dragged by jolly human farmers, a group of dwarven wives chatting with baskets in their hands, and nearer the city you see a halfling a rancher leading a cow towards the gate. On the river float rafts, and small sailboats, some docking near the city and some floating down the Silver Run towards Gellarney on the coast. A mass of well-spaced houses grows beyond the stone walls. One you enter the city of Dunric, below your feet are cobblestoned streets. Not too far into the city a market has just started.
Geography
Dunric is located in the banks of the Silver Run in the county of Merryville, about half an hour’s walk downstream from where the river Steady flows into the Run. The lands surrounding the city are mostly plowed fields, or pastures where cattle grazes.
Layout
Dunric is surrounded by a relatively small stone wall. Within the wall you’ll quickly get to the Marketward, the city’s central distict and trade hub. The docks also lead into this district. Surrounding it are Greatgrove to the north, Eastburrow to the, well, east and The Lights to the West. On a rise on the north-western edge of the city stands Dunric Castle, the home of the ruler of Dunric.
Marketward
The Marketward is the central district of Dunric. It consists of many cobblestone squares and plazas lined with cheerful trees, with many colored flags on strings between them. The color of the little flags is dependant on the season the city’s citizens are currently enjoying.
The south side of the Ward leads into the dock area. Some wooden piers jut into the river, giving riverboats and rafts the ability to tie up there. Whatever supplies cannot be brought in from the surrounding countryside are delivered to Dunric this way. It is also a minor trade route to supply some villages more inland.
King’s Hall
The Kings hall is an official house of Dunric, located on the main thoroughfare. It is where the Crown's Guard have their HQ, and while official rulings of court take place at the castle it does feature a small cell. It features a large signboard outside, with room for posters detailing quests and wanted posters. The Master of the Hall oversees the guards as well as any information on the quests outside.
The Bellows
A large smithy, located centrally in the district. They specialize in weapons and armor. Trisha works here.
The Anchor

The Gangplank
A seedy store near the piers, between some larger warehouses. The front store is a ramshackle building, not well-maintained. Inside is an assortment of various fishing equipment, mainly woven nets. If you give the secret password, the old man behind the counter will lead you through a secret entrance in the back room.
Behind the store is a parlor, in a converted warehouse. This is the Dunric HQ of The Weave. It features a bar with various bottles of liquor on display, and a gallery of a second story overlooking the small round tables. Many have cards or dice on them, and a variety of dark-hooded figures sitting around them. Around a corner from the bar, underneath the stairs, is a larger table with comfortable chairs beside it. Here sits Hugo Radcliffe, the Weavemaster of Dunric.
Harbormaster’s Office
The harbormaster’s office is where all trade up and down the river is regulated. It is located centrally near the river.
Eastburrow
Eastburrow is the city’s smaller residential area. It is a predominantly halfling and dwarven district. It is Dunric’s eastern residential district, but some industry can also be found here. Dwarven crafters or halfling artists also have their workshops here.
The Hearth
The Hearth is a large inn, owned by Eida, a halfling, together with her family. It has multiple long tables, and is known for its great food.
The Axe and the Bottle
Run by Alberich Brokenbottle, a mountain dwarf that strangely stands near human-sized. He is as boisterous as his large hairy arms and fiery red hair make him seem. He also organizes illegal pit-fights beneath his inn.
Berrydyne’s Workshop
This two-story building is set against the city, and stands out for its enormous door in the front. The actual workshop is housed on the 2nd floor and a wide stone staircase, different from the rest of the wooden building, leads up to it. Inside there is a lot of gears, wires and other tinkering equipment stacked against the walls and on shelves. In one corner there is rocks stacked on top of one another, with arcane sigils visible on some of them. In the middle of the room is a large stone slab, like an operating table.
Brocc Berrydyne is a deep-gnome tinkerer and Golem constructor. He is part of the Society of Rubixs, but prefers to work alone.
Greatgrove
Greatgrove is Dunric’s greater residential district. It is populates mostly by humans, though you might find the occasional elf, or sometimes a halfling or a dwarf. It spans nearly a third of the city, being so large. Some pubs and taverns away from the docks are also scattered through the district.
The Rusty Blade
nicknamed the Paladin’s Pub, it is frequented by city guards off-duty as well as acolytes of Tyrm sometimes.
The Bastion of the Dawn
The Bastion of the Dawn is the largest church of Amon in Dunric. It is a large cathedral, featuring a single large square tower above its cross-section. It has large stained glass windows that let in plenty of sunlight.
It is located at the south of Greatgrove, on the border of the Marketward near the center of the city. Beside it is Amon’s Churchyard, a graveyard made into a lovely park with trees.
66 Aurora Rd.
This abandoned house sits at the end of a small street next to Amon’s Churchyard. It is seemingly boarded up, but the plank in front of the door is hinged to easily let people in. It is a hideout for The Weave.
The Lights
The Lights is the scholarly district of Dunric, and also houses some more wealthy citizens. It is a luxurious district, with many trees and parks, as well as fountains. It is named after the strings of magical lights that hang from strings between the trees and buildings. This district is notably home to Sólved’s College for the Many-Gifted, an institution devoted to the cultivation and education of magic. It’s white marbled exterior is tall and decorated splendidly with blue and gold banners.
Sólved’s College for the Many-Gifted
Located in The Lights district of Dunric, this college is one of Aenín’s few places of arcane study. People from all over the Eastlands travel far and wide to be able to study under Headmaster Erathis Ullios.
It is located near the south end of The Lights, its gates connected to the inner city and its spires looking out over the river. It is made up of several tall white marbled buildings, with many high windows. Large towers are connected to it by high floating passages. Some have blue domed tops, others have battlements along them. The largest of these towers features a large golden telescope coming out of its top dome. Its wrought iron gates are laden with protective enchantments, keeping unwanted guests out. Between the buildings and the gates are lush gardens, but courtyards between buildings show the telltale signs of wizard duels, fireblasts and other evocation magics.
Its library is not as vast as those in Si-Tahna or even Arkenwolde, but contains superior knowledge about the mysteries beyond Aeníns borders, like the Deep Sea crystal caverns of Tethyra, guesses at the inner workings of the Faerie Courts, and what goes on between the Mountains of Madness. It also has the largest collection of books on astronomy, as well as a fully functioning mechanical planetarium.
Dunric Castle
